For me a keeper is a romance that makes you laugh, cry, and sigh. With witty sparring, searing passion, and blinding moments of truth, SEDUCED is just that, a book that you will gravitate to again and again. If you enjoy a good battle of the sexes where everyone emerges a winner, this one's for you.

Elizabeth Montclair and Lucien St. Aubyn, Duke of Ravenwood, are both society misfits and both carry on as if they don't care. That is where the similarities end. Having met on two occasions, Lucien is well aware that Elizabeth despises him, all the reason he needs to show up at a soiree uninvited just to plague her. This decision has unexpected consequences.

Elizabeth has the misfortune of having been born a noble woman without noble blood. The mad King had found it amusing to entitle his cobbler, who had been Elizabeth's grandfather. Her coming out had been an eye-opener, for all of the eligible young gentlemen of her set had failed to attend. She continues to attend ton fete's mostly to save face and keep her parents happy. She does not expect to make a match, but rather become a governess when the money to fund her seasons runs out.

There had been rumors about Lucien St. Aubyn since he was a boy. People attached to him just seemed to wind up dead. His mother had not survived his birth. He'd lost four nannys, his best friend, and finally his father by the time he'd turned twenty. Even he'd become concerned, but his brother Henry had laughed it off as coincidence. Two month's later Henry was dead, at Lucien's hand. Witnesses swore it was an accident, but afterwards Lucien was tagged "the Duke of Death. Marriage-minded mommas kept their daughters far from his path and invitations became few. Rumor's abounded that he'd done the deed deliberately.

Rather than fade from society, Lucien became the "King of the Rakes" a.k.a. the Rake of Ravenwood. And as time went by, and no one further died, he'd become accepted and even romanticized. The performance was all a sham however, and he was becoming quite bored with it all.

Elizabeth Montclair was one of the few women who failed to swoon when faced with the notorious rake. In fact, in spite of her lowly position among the ton, she had actually called him a "murdering whoremonger" to his face when last they'd met. He definitely gets the expected reaction when she follows a phony missive to her hostess's drawing room only to find Lucien there, bent on seduction. She is livid, he is vastly amused. But ruffling her feathers has extreme consequences when they are caught out. Elizabeth is ruined, and by a man no one expects to come up to scratch.

Unexpectedly he offers for her, and Elizabeth has no choice but to accept. Let the sparks fly! Both intend for the marriage to be one of convenience only. Lucien wants no heir and Elizabeth wants no part of him period. Still they can't resist tormenting each other and when Lucien offers to instruct Elizabeth in the fine art of seduction, neither proves to be as indifferent as they pretend. Unfortunately Lucien's past is about to catch up with him and Elizabeth will be forced to decide if her marriage is worth fighting for.

Seduced is an incredible emotional rollercoaster. Elizabeth is an amazing multi-dimensional heroine. Unlike most women of her time, she possesses an analytical mind and the ability to strategize. She is also intensely loyal. Lucien is my favorite kind of wounded hero. He is wracked with guilt over his brother's death. Contrary to public opinion, he has not allowed himself to benefit from the accident. He is loved by the people who matter to him, his servants and the people of his dukedom. He steals his way into Elizabeth's heart as well, and it is she who must teach him to love himself. My heart broke for them when it seemed all hope was lost. But of course, as with any good romance, love overcomes all.
