The book was about Patrick Flaherty. Patrick was born in Boston, Massachusettes in 1950. He graduated school with 3 football scholarships but insted of going to college he sighned himself up for the Marines. He thought it would be a good idea at the time but would soon think the opposite. He was shipped to Vietnam on December 25, 1968 Christmas. His first day in Vietnam was hot an smelly. Patrick was a scared brave young man in Vietnam to keep his thoughts of the war he wrote a journal of everyday he was their. His platoon was Golf Company, 3rd Battalion, 26th Marines. his nickname in the army was Mighty Mouse. His friends in his platoon were Bebop, Tex, and Professor. Later on Bebop his closest friend would die. Patrick was in Vietnam for 13 months. To this day Patrick has not said one wodr about Vietnam he said all he nedded to say was in this Journal. Today Patrick is a retired Chief Fireman an lves in Boston with his wife an four children.
