Kate sutton is a lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth I, but is exiled to the Perilous Gard and learns the locals are afraid of fairy folk who reportedly kidnap children. She and her friend Christopher Heron venture to the fairy realm. Christopher gives himself to the queen, the Lady in Green, while Kate finds herself in a strange relationship with the fairy. Eventually they escape and Christopher and Kate are engaged.
