  • Amane Kamori: A manatsukai, master of words, who is trying to live away from her home village. She can be very dense and naïve and is very bad with technology.
  • Hyoue Inugami: Amane's koma-oni, or guardian demon. In exchange for helping her, he gets some of her life force which keeps him alive.
  • Takako Nishina: A girl in Amane's class who has some issues with bullied people.
  • Kozue Kawamoto: A girl who was bullied so much she slit her throat. She is said to still haunt the school with a knife sticking out of her neck.
  • Jingoro: Takako's labrador retriever.
  • Hayato Hikara: A new teacher at Amane's school.
