    Be remarkable. Best quotes:

"The lesson is simple - boring always leads to failure. Boring is always the most risky strategy. Smart businesspeople realize this, and they work to minimize (but not eliminate) the risk from the process."

"The system is pretty simple: Go for the edges. Challenge yourself and your team to describe what those edges are (not that you'd actually go there), and then test which edge is most likely to deliver the marketing and financial results you seek."

"There is another way. You've probably guessed it: Be exceptional. Remarkable people with remarkable careers seem to switch jobs with far less effort. Remarkable people don't even have a resume. Instead, they rely on sneezers who are quick to recommend them when openings come up. Remarkable people are often recrutied from jobs they love to jobs they love even more. The secret doesn't lie in the job-seeking technique. It has to do with what these people do when they're not looking for a job. These Purple Cows do an outrageous jnob. They work on high-profile projects. These people take risks, often resulting in big faiulres. These faiulred rarely lead to a dead end, though. They're not really risks, after all. Instead, they just increase the chances that these people will get an even better project next time."

Great Marketing book. Awesome concept that I think really holds true in the marketplace today. Maybe a "Purple Cow" is exactly the kind of idea you need!

This author never fails to deliver insight into the marketing process and makes the case for making the product – not just the marketing – remarkable in the eyes of the customer.

I became a fan of Seth Godin after reading this book. It teaches you to think differently and independently, and offers incredible insights on how to be/create/make a purple cow. Plan on reading it again!

Seth Godin writes to support his thesis that traditional marketing as born out of the tv-industrial complex is dead. He supports this with years of experience and stories of true, 'purple cows.' Some slogans to remember - "Don't be boring, safe is risky, design rules now, and very good is bad."

He really encourages marketing personnel and entrepreneurs to think out of the box and create something that is remarkable. He intuitively challenges the reader to ask themselves questions about their current marketing efforts.

A wee gem from Godin. Soap SYD has a copy and well worth the couple of hours to get through.

Cool ideas, and worth thinking about how to be remarkable, no matter what market you're in.

Short, pithy wisdom about succeeding in the Internet Age, Rodin's amended classic has been updated with testimonials in the final pages. I liked this line: "It's not about being weird. It's about being irresistable to a tiny group of easily reached sneezers [his term for those who spread 'ideaviruses'] with otaku [the Japanese term for something more than a hobby but less than an obsession]" (p. 140).

I think this slim volume should be a handbook for anyone interested in making any kind of impression in today's amplification-rich technology age.
