The most disgusting book in the whole world! I think it would have been in everybody's best interest if Sadoveanu died when he was ten, so he wouldn't ruin the lives of milions of inocent students. I hate him!
I read it 4 years ago and despite the serious subject, I found it to be quite light reading. I liked Vitoria's strength and I think it's a representative book for the mentality of the Romanians at that time.
