Firestar keeps having dreams about a lost and abandoned clan. After these dreams keep coming back a vision comes to him telling him to go save that clan. - Firestar: Leader of Thunderclan. A flame-colored pelt, green eyes
- Sandstorm: Firestar's Mate; she travels with him to help on the journey. A pale ginger she-cat.
- Moony/Skywatcher: An old, hostile rogue who is the last descendant of the ancient SkyClan. Renamed Skywatcher by Firestar. He pulls SkyClan back together and delivers a prophecy to Firestar.
- Boris/Sparrowpaw/Sparrowpelt: A kittypet with SkyClan blood; becomes an apprentice of SkyClan; renamed Sparrowpaw by Firestar before Leafstar is named leader. Is Cherry's littermate.
- Graystripe: Thunderclan deputy. Firestar's best friend. Father of Stormfur and Feathertail.
- Clovertail: Joins Skyclan as a warrior/queen. She joins the clan mostly for protection, but afterward becomes a valuable addition to the newly formed Skyclan. She is not so much a warrior, but more a permanent queen.
- Rainfur: Joins Skyclan after Firestar rescues his mate and two kits, Mintkit and Sagekit, from a mad Twoleg.
- Leaf/Leafdapple/Leafstar: A warrior of Skyclan. Later becomes leader when Echosong receives a sign from StarClan.
- Spottedleaf: Deceased medicine cat of Thunderclan. Often comes to Firestar in dreams to guide him.
- Firestar: The Leader of ThunderClan, who lives in his clan, among other clans. He is forced to leave due to dreams about a driven out clan, so he goes to find them.
- Cloudtail: Firestar's adventurous, disrespectful and rude nephew; doesn't really believe in Starclan, but respects the code; formerly a kittypet.
- Sharpclaw: Skyclan deputy.
- Cinderpelt: Medicine cat of Thunderclan. Former apprentice of Firestar. Littermate of Brackenfur.
- Longtail: Warrior of Thunderclan. Retired early to the elder's den due to blindness.
- Sootpaw: Apprentice in Thunderclan. Son of Whitestorm and Willowpelt. Littermate of Sorrelpaw and Rainpaw.
- Hattie: Kittypet that lives in Firestar's former home. When he sees her, Firestar feels a slight pang of jealousy.
- Cora: Rogue.
- Willowpelt: Fearless warrior of Thunderclan. Mother of Sootpaw, Sorrelpaw and Rainpaw. Mate of Whitestorm.
- Oscar: Moody kittypet who thinks the idea of Skyclan is stupid. Refuses to join, but doesn't antagonize them.
- Ravenpaw: Shy former Thunderclan cat who was forced to leave because of Tigerclaw's threats. He now lives in a barn with his friend Barley. He often helps the clan when in need.
- Sorrelpaw: Sandstorm's apprentice. Daughter of Whitestorm and Willowpelt. Littermate of Sootpaw and Rainpaw.
- Brambleclaw: Newly made warrior of Thunderclan. Was Firestar's apprentice. Son of Tigerstar and Golderflower. Littermate of Tawnypelt, a ShadowClan warrior.
- Tallstar: Windclan's leader.
- Petalnose: Skyclan queen and Rainfur's mate. Mother of Mintkit and Sagekit.
- Leopardstar: Riverclan's leader.
- Hutch/Shortwhisker: Skyclan warrior. Former kittypet.
- Smudge: Firestar's former kittypet friend.
- Barley: Ravenpaw's friend who lives at the barn with him.
- Echo/Echosong: Kittypet who has suspicious dreams. Becomes Skyclan's new medicine cat.
- Sagekit and Mintkit: Rainfur and Petalnose's kits.
- Bouncekit, Rockkit, and Tinykit: The adventurous sons and daughter of Clovertail. Father is unknown.
- Birchstar, Redstar, Cloudstar, Dawnstar, and Swiftstar: The leaders of the five clans while Skyclan was being driven out. Redstar-Thunderclan, Swiftstar-Windclan, Birchstar-Riverclan, Dawnstar-Shadowclan. Voted to make SkyClan leave the forest.
