Grandma Tildy continues to buy pets from the pet man. As she buys these animals she finds work around the house that they can help her do. They are all very helpful, but she does not want to buy an elephant. When the pet man comes one last time all he has left is the elephant. She finally lets him come in the house for winter, but he eats all the food. They can't stay there or they would starve. The elephant picks up the house and carries it to a warmer place.
