“First off reading these books you know what to expect from a typical Lincoln/Amelia/Thom et al scenario so lets not go to deep into that.
It was a great book and one that I read in about 3 days flat, but it wasn't the best I have read. To get Lincoln into the main crux of the story I felt was a little bit stretched but not too far that you felt it was pushing it too far. Once the story got going though as usual it had me hooked and kept me more than happy to keep reading and reading. The ending was fast paced and had all the twists and turns that you needed to keep you guessing and keep reading until the end.
As a side not I do prefer Lincoln etc in the city but this was a nice trip into the great outdoors.
The ending though I did think ended a bit abrupt and we all like a happy ending but I felt it was all just a little bit twee.
As said though a good book and well worth the read.”
“Another great thiller from Deaver, My favourite so far in the Lincoln Rhyme series”

Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are asked to assist a small town police force in hunting down a brilliant kidnapper aptly named Insect Boy. Finding the boy may not be so difficult, but keeping him within their grasp may just be the toughest thing they have ever done. This may be their toughest case yet, pitting these allies on opposite sides.
Although The Empty Chair is described as a thriller, I feel it fits better into the mystery genre. I enjoyed the brilliance of the Insect Boy and loved the fun facts about insects. The characters I felt were kind of weak, and some of the events were not all that plausible. That being said I think that the plot is well done and keeps the reader’s interest at all times. I also enjoyed the section right before the end, as it was very creative.
I recommend The Empty Chair to mystery lovers and Deaver fans.

In this one, Lincoln & Amelia are searching for a murdering in a small town in North Carolina. Everyone in the small town has pegged a weirdo local kid known as Insect Boy for the killings - but the solution may not be that simple. ”

Again, the story is great, as always. But here he puts his co-protagonist, Ameila Sachs, into a position I find totally unbelievable for her. Not so much her mistake (I won't do a spoiler), but her willing compliance in an ethically borderline resolution. Remember her father? The disgraced foot patrolman? Am I to believe that Sachs would ever not stand up and take it?”
