This is an excellent book about the Shambhala and Buddhist teachings.
I was present at many of the actual talks that he gave.
If you want to know about Buddhism this is a great starter.
There is another book by Dzonsar Kyentese Rinpoche entilted How not to be a Buddhist which I think is great

Most of the Books written by Non-Indian Authors are based on their research and real-world experiences. Shambhala is more a part of Global Hinduism rather than region specific. Every living creature in this dimension should strive to be a part of Shambhala Kingdom and bring out their Shambhala (ite/ism/ian) from within themselves. Once that is achieved then we can also see Global Peace.

Shambhala - Hinduism or Buddhaism .... Accordingly to Mythological stories/ Legendary stories or Historical findings ancient books have mentioned many Avathars of Buddhistva. There is one mention of a part of Lord Vishnu taken form of the last Avathar of Buddha. Unlike the Saint Parshurama who weild his Godly power to destroy mankind's Royal Dynasties Lord Buddha weilds his heart and mind to destory Mankind's evil inside them. Both the Avathar's are Lord Vishnu's effort in balancing good and evil. With Start of Kaliyuga and the powers of God and Gods themselves disappearing in different Dimension there is a Prophecy that at end of Kali yuga and begining of Satya Yuga there will be a Sandhi Yuga in which Shambhala Warriors will be Born. These Warriors will be pure human race unlike other human races which will be various mixtures. There are many websites that refer to this mixed impure human race of future. Shambhala Teachings are mixture of both Gita and Buddha's teaching as the come from same source. First one teaches you to fight evil outside u and second one teaches to fight evil inside you. Any person who is successful in doing that can become a Shambhala Warrior.
