Seth Quinn has become a man from the 11 year old boy in the last book. This book is all about him. He is an extremely successful artist today and has traveled the world. He yearns for home though and returns to Chesapeake Bay. His family has expanded and each character is introduced and the older ones are re-introduced. He meets a flower shop owner, and in the course of painting her, falls in love with her. But his past, his biological mother, still pursues him wherever he goes and out of love for his adopted family, he gives in to her blackmailing. The rest of the story is all about how Seth reaches a point where he knows he has to tell his family and his lover all about his past, his mistakes, his attempts to protect them, and then the entire Quinn family comes together and tackles the problem. The story ends on a positive note, and they all live happily ever after.
