- Capt. Jean-Luc Picard: Captain of the Starship Enterprise. He recently was involved in an incident that disgraced his reputation. He is sent on a mission to the distant reaches of the galaxy to help him regain his reputation and get him out of the way of Starfleet politics.
- Commander William T Riker: Enterprise's long serving first officer. He is romantically involved with Counselor Deanna Troi.
- Counselor Deanna Troi: Ship's counselor she is also half Betazoid which gives her the ability to read people's emotions.
- Doctor Beverly Crusher: The ship's chief medical officer. She is considering a transfer to Starfleet medical. She is close friends with Captain Picard and fiercely loyal.
- Commander Geordi LaForge: He is the ship's chief engineer. He is best friend's with the android, Data.
- Commander Data: He is the ships second officer and an android. He recently removed his emotions chip.
- Ambassador Worf: He is the Federation ambassador the the Klingon empire. He is Klingon by birth but was raised by humans after his birth parents were killed on Kitimer.
