The subtitle of "Understanding Suicide" is clever, in retrospect, because Jamison frequently points out how it's not possible to ever understand suicide in concrete, black and white terms. Yet we can still watch for warning signs and genetic predictors and take those who express a desire to commit suicide seriously.

Given my own history, this was a very difficult, emotional read. But beyond that, I really enjoyed this exploration of the history of suicide, the science connected to...

Just a few chapters will help you to understand a suicide risk assessment, or to conduct one without ever needing someone to give you a list of questions.
