She is facing the ups and downs of junior high. Living in a small town isn't always easy but she...” see full review » see other reviews » |

“I loved the storyline. She thought she loved someone, but ended up getting betrayed by him deeply. This book made me cry because of the intensity of its reality.”

She wants Mark to see her the same way she sees him. But that would take a miracle, right? Shug believes she is the ugly. But she is glad she still has Mark at least as her best friend. But everything changes as she enters junior high. Mark doesn't pick her up in the morning, and he comes over less to talk to her. She doesn't go over to his house to eat now, and they don't play. Shug is glad to at least have her best girl friend, ”

It accurately reflected on almost every average middle school girl's feelings. I'm in middle school, and sometimes I feel just like Shug. Alone, forgotten,m but most of all I feel ugly, and unpopular. I don't want to feel that way, but I do. This book pretty much told the story of a normal seventh grade girl in the shadow of her sister, trying to come to terms with herself, her friends, and her crush, also her best friend, Mark. ”

It talks about everyday girl troubles and how sometimes like can be awkward and bad sometimes it can be the best day in the world. I love how real the love story in this is. Plus the characters have a lot of personality that can sometimes get in the way of their relationships with friends. I love this book and if you read it I’m sure you will to.
Shug is a book about a 13 year old girl who falls in love with her best friend since they were little, mark. When they get in to junior high it all turns in to a mess. Mark turns in to a jerk, loses her best girlfriend, Elaine for a while, and her worst enemy turns into her first kiss.
One reason I love this book is because I can really relate to the main character, Annemarie, in some ways because her older sister is always gone and hanging out with her boyfriend and that’s exactly how my brother is he’s always hanging out with his girlfriend.
One reason I didn’t like it is because it needs to be way longer. I thought I could read about her life forever. Its 248 pages and it should have been about a thousand or so!
This was great, enjoyable book. I laughed, cried, and even got mad at people in this. This is a very emotional book that is great for teenage girls that need something to relate to. I give it a 5 out of 5 and two thumbs up!
