Cross

by James Patterson

Alex Cross was a rising star in the Washington, DC, Police Department when an unknown shooter gunned down his wife, Maria, in front of him. The killer was never found, and the case turned cold, filed among the unsolved drive-bys in D.C.'s rough neighborhoods.

I was so excited to read this book with it being about his wife's killer and I have to say it left me disappointed. Predictable and safe, not something I'm used to. I still love James Patterson but 'The Women's Murder Club' books are much more exciting!

As you can see on my shelf, I love James Patterson's books. They are books I like to read when I'm looking for an easy good read. All of his books have the same feel to them. I also love Patterson's character, Alex Cross. Any of his books with Alex are a bonus!

    1) Cross, James Patterson, 2007

    2) Washington D.C. 2007

    3) Alex Cross - Deticated family man who is also a top notch detective. After his wife gets murdered he quits the force to be there for his kids. He is a brave man who struggles with enjoying a peaceful life.

Butcher - Sick seriel killer who shows no mercy. He will do anything to his victoms to get what he wants. He is very quick and stealthy and excells at his job as a hitman.

Sampson - Lead detective who takes over for Alex after he quits the force. Very smart and honorable. Makes it his goal to stop the Butcher and find the murderer of "Maria Cross".

    4. The whole story is a real page turner. It starts out with an intese beggining introducing the Butcher and what he does. Almost imedietly the Butcher and Alex meet for the first time face to face. I really like how Patterson gets inside the characters head and talks as a conscience. This book has likable characters and keeps you reading. The short chapters keep you interested in both sides of the story which eventually all fall together. This book is a must read if you enjoy murder mystories.

    5. Take your loved ones for granted.
Fight for what you believe in.
    Never give up

    6. "There's already blood on this scalpel," the Butcher said in a throaty whisper meant to scare her out of her wits. "You see it?"

These type of quotes are really breathtaking and keep you reading.

I read this book on my plane ride to Miami, Florida in April 2008. I usually go to sleep on planes, but I kept my eye open for this book. I never wanted to set the book down, and I finished in 3 days. Right then and there I developed an understanding of how people can do nothing else, but read.

Alex Cross’s wife was shot years ago, murder never solved. His former partner calls and gets him involved with a case connected to his wife’s death. Don’t remember the end!

Alex Cross has faced his share of psycho killers and they have all taken their toll on him. Needing a change of pace, he leaves the FBI and starts his own private practice in DC. A series of vicious mob related murders that are connected to a serial rapist soon grab his attention. When Cross discovers the culprit may in fact be the man who murdered his wife, he knows that he can no longer sit by. Cross once again teams up with John Sampson to bring down a ruthless killer. This time it's personal.

James Patterson's Alex Cross Series is his most well known work and the best written. Cross certainly fits into the mold that Patterson set years ago when he embarked on this fast paced and engrossing series. Patterson's deep connection to his beloved character is revealed through the rich detail and emotion found in this novel. As fans would expect, this story is frenetically paced and impossible to put down from line one.

The Butcher might be Patterson's most evil character and the depths of his depravity have no bottom. We spend much of this book in the killer's head, and while this is a darkly disturbing journey, it is also an effective storytelling device that draws you right in. This is classic Alex Cross good vs. evil storytelling and fans of the series won't be disappointed.

Another Alex Cross story. Not the best, but still an enjoyable read.
