Eerily fascinating. Where Alex Cross is an extraordinary hero, The Butcher is one of the scarier villains I've encountered in any book.

Probably my least favorite of the series. This one was more about Alex's life and his closure with his wife's murder. It was a good read, just not like the other books in the series.

Really good book that provides some background on what makes Alex Cross what he is.

Evil at its vilest. Cross by James Patterson is an excellent read. Good pace, with the right smattering of back-story. No overwhelming narratives or stage setting. Characters easily identifiable and readily drawn to. I've "read" a lot of bad guys, but Michael Sullivan - rapist and assassin - is evil at its vilest.

I so see Morgan Freeman in Alex Cross, in his dialogue and mannerisms, dry humor. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the distinguished Freeman is one of my all-time favorite actors. And that voice . . . ahhhh.

Came across this novel at a resale shop and what a pleasure it's been to read. If you like a finely honed tale of suspense, you won't be disappointed. I'll be seeking out more from this author.

As always a page-turner and quick read. Fast-paced novel in Cross series.

    Back Cover Blurb:
Alex Cross was a rising star in the Washington, DC,Police Department when an unknown shooter killed his wife, Maria, in front of him.
Years later, having left the FBI and returned to practising psychology, Alex finally feels his life is in order....Until his former partner, John Sampson, calls in a favour. John's tracking a serial rapist in Georgetown and he needs Alex to help find this brutal predator.
When the case triggers a connection to Maria's death, could Alex have a chance to catch his wife's murderer? Will this be justice at long last? Or the endgame in his own deadly obsession?
