the most imp thing this book does is shake our belief in the "absolute truth" of religion, what the narrator calls "ghosts".it really helped me to get over the fact that god or religion is completely a figment of our imagination, and that there is no such thing as god.from agnostic i am now an atheist, all thanks to this book.
did anyone else feel like it..??

Although it is obvious that Pirsig does not believe in God, he really leaves the 'pursuit of Quality' open to every religion. I am a Christian and loved this book. Have you read Pirsig next book 'Lila: An Inquiry into morals'? That gets more into the idea of absolute truth. What has probably turned you off to religion is people who have made a bunch of things absoulute truth which obviously isn't. I am just guessing right now so I'll wait for you to respond

How odd. I became a Catholic in no small part because of the influence of this book. You might try re-reading the book with an eye to discovering the nature of Quality.
