Modern day Southern California and Mystic, Washington
  • Colwater home, Southern California: A 2-story home in the Colony, a guarded development where every house was similar. On the coastline with a view of the ocean.
  • London: Natalie Colwater was going to live there for 3 months, until she returned home on June 15.
  • Stanford University: The college Natalie had chosen to attend. She intended to study biochemistry there.
  • Blake's office: In Century City, luxurious, expensive, stark and unrelieved with views of skyscrapers.
  • The Beauregard House: Nick's home in Mystic, near the lake and not too far from the Quinault River. Formerly an old rundown house but now remodeled, painted yellow and comfortable. Nick had wanted this house since he was a teenager, bought it when married to Kathy and together, they'd made it what it was.
  • Mystic, Washington: A small lakeside town occupied by farmers and fishermen, where Annie, Kathy and Nick had grown up. Very laid back, its Main Street occupied by small stores with quaint names. Washington state is a very rainy state.
  • Zoe's Hot Spot Tavern: The saloon in Mystic where Nick spent much time, deploring what his life had become.
  • The Lutheran Church: Where Nick's AA meetings were held in a long, narrow room in a windowless basement.
