Didn’t Like It“I didn't enjoy the book as much as I thought I would. It was solid at the very beginning, then it started to unhinge (almost as much as the main character) and just become completely unrealistic to the way the story was playing out. I don't think I'd recommend this book to someone and at certain...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“Caroline is unlike many of her classmates. She is deep, intelligent beyond her years and calculated in all of her actions and decisions. But what happens when she falls for her equally deep, intelligent and much more mysterious high school English teacher? Caroline falls quickly and spirals into a world of obsession, betrayal and a lot of growing up very quickly.

Delicious Quote (so many to choose from!)
Joy.
Holy sweet goodness.
It's with me every waking moment.
But it's a terrified, shivering, fragile joy. The next morning I wake up silently shrieking, the sheets in knots around my legs.
did it happen?
Has he forgotten? Changed his mind? Lost it?”

Has sexual content, so it is definitely not appropriate for anyone younger than high school.”

It was solid at the very beginning, then it started to unhinge (almost as much as the main character) and just become completely unrealistic to the way the story was playing out. I don't think I'd recommend this book to someone and at certain points, I was almost too ashamed of the main character or too embarrassed for her to even continue reading.”

The topic is nearly forbidden in YA lit, and the author does it serious justice. A sensitive look at the topic, and what happens when it all ends. And her voice is perfect. Every teacher should read this book -- yes, even the female teachers. Watch the news?”

No, its not until Mr. Mann ends the relationship, does 18 yr old Nine seek answers and revenge along the way. Or is it really revenge? Is she crazy in love? Simply the greatest novel right now! I couldn't put it down!!”

Nelson has definetly portayed a student-teacher affair to perfection. This book takes you into the mind of a high school student who is madly obsessed with a teacher. The pair ends up etting closer and the relationship progresses, and stuff happens, but a obviously something goes wrong and the book finally gets REALLY interesting. Like the part where "Nine" whose real name is Carolina, pulls out a gun and shoots the teacher, and then the chapter ends. Funny thing is, the gun turns out to not be an actual gun, but a paint gun -_-”
