The final chapter of The Sprawl Triology is set fifteen years after the events of Neuromancer and seven years after Count Zero. Sentient AI's have merged with The Matrix and nothing is the same anymore. Bobby Newmark, the ex-cyberspace cowboy known as Count Zero, is on the run but seems to be in a coma as he unwittingly finds sanctuary in the hands of a mentally damaged ex-car thief called Slick Henry. Meanwhile, Yakuza kingpin Mr. Yanaka prepares to face off with his opponents as he hides his only daughter, Kumiko, in London — but is she truly safe, or has she gone from the frying pan into the fire? Recovering in California after a period of drug-induced self-exile from the Matrix, simstim superstar Angela Mitchell is disturbed by changes in her unique bioware when she finds a ghost in the machine. And a not-so-innocent Cleveland girl named Mona becomes an pawn in a deadly game from which she has no hope of escape. Over all of them hangs the shadow of an unseen hand that threatens to crush them all and remake cyberspace in its own image, unless they can find a way to stop it.
