1.Woodrow the White House Mouse By Peter J. Barnes
This is a short story about Woodrow G. Washingtail and the first family. It shows readers how Mr. Washingtail is elected for presidency and what life is like in the white house. Readers go through a tour of the white house and this book highlights events such as the Inaugural dinner and the White House Easter Egg Hunt. I use this book as an extension of our government unit. In fourth grade, we focus on state government; however, students tend to be interested in our president and federal government. As I read this book, I relate it to our state government to help students make the connection between state and federal government. The book has excellent illustrations and humor, which makes it a fun way to explore our government.
