“Well, I read the first one and then had to know the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say...
Darkness falls¦ Despair abounds¦Evil reigns¦
Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have just saved the rebel state from destruction by the mighty forces of King Galbatorix, cruel ruler of the Empire. Now Eragon must travel to Ellesmera, land of the elves, for further training in the skills of the Dragon Rider: magic and swordsmanship. Soon he is on the journey of a lifetime, his eyes open to awe-inspring new places and people, his days filled with fresh adventure. But chaos and betrayal plague him at every turn, and nothing is what it seems. Before long, Eragon doesn't know whom he can trust.
Meanwhile, his cousin Roran must fight a new battles one that might put Eragon in even graver danger.
Will the king's dark hand strangle all resistance? Eragon may not escape with even his life. . . .
“Just about from the time my son was born (he's 12) my wife and I have been reading to him at night before he goes to bed. We alternate nights, so that she as a book that they read and I have a different book. It started off small, but grew to where we are reading the Potter series, Gaiman's Graveyard Book, and this series. We just finished reading Eldest, the 2nd book in the Inheritance cycle. I had read it before, but its a different experience when you read it out loud. Personally (and this goes for Tolkien as well), I don't like all the different languages that you have to try pronounce. Its easier when you are reading in your head, cause you can sort of short-cut things. But not when are reading aloud.
Good read, we'll put Eragon on the shelf for a bit and switch gears now to another book, but come back to it next for the 3rd in the series Brisingr
Finished : 4/14/13”
