Eldest is the continuation of epic fantasy started in Eragon. In this story of great adventures, lost love, and epiphanies, Eragon is sent up to the land of the Elves, in order to complete his training as a Rider. There, Eragon is shocked to find out that he isn't, as previously thought, the only...

I regret that it isn't possible to give this book a rating lower than 1 star. It's truly awful, worst than the first book by a good deal. While Eragon was trite, and obviously ripped off from a dozen other authors, it had a sort of innocence to the writing style that managed to be energetic, if...

    Text-2
The text confused sometimes with a lot of the weird and random places that have weird names that you've never heard of. They talk about cities somewhere that people are, or supplies. And it was just written in a confusing way that you didn't remember anybody's names, or remember who they were. It kind of drove me nuts, because sometimes I had to go back in the book to see who the heck the person they're talking to is. I just wish they had some simpler names.

    Character-1
My favorite character was Eragon. It's not really surprising, because authors usually try to make the main characters likable, but I liked Eragon the most because he seemed like the person who had nothing, then suddenly they had everything, and since they had to conserve what they had, they knew the how to use the power or money they had. He didn't waste his power, and his heart was always in the right place. He always tried to help people out, and was just a great character.

    Plot-1
The plot part I found the significant was when you met Oromis, and Eragon was learning from him, because he was learning the most advanced, cool, and awesome magic that would help become the most powerful rider ever. And not only that, I love Oromis because his like Yoda. He is wise, patient, and just a really powerful teacher. He knows what he's doing, and it's making Eragon the one of the strongest riders, and he fights for what he believes in.

Eldest is the second book of the epic fantasy series Eragon by Christopher Paolini. Although i really enjoyed the first book, the second one just didnt appeal to me as much as its prequel did. i had really high hopes for this book at first because of how much the first book of this series intrigued me, but this one in both story and writing just felt dull to me. Although not the worst, i certainly felt that the authro could have done better. To me, this just felt like a 500 page drag.

The second book in the Inheritance Cycle finds Eragon and Saphira traveling to Ellesmera to study magic with the elves. There they make several discoveries that will change their lives forever. Roran, Eragon's cousin, attempts to lead the entire village of Carvahall through the Spine and to the safety of Surda when the village is threatened by the Ra'zac. The Varden discover that the Empire knows they are in Surda and is sending an army to attack them. This volume is definitely more exciting than the last. You'll find it hard to wait for the third installment.

This book was a bit less exciting then Eragon, but it still has alot of surprises and all, what with Murtagh turning out to be another rider. Murtagh has the dragon Thorn who Galbotorix used dark magic on.

    4. Is the plot engaging—does the story interest you? Is this a plot-driven book: a fast-paced page-turner? Or does the story unfold slowly with a focus on character development?
Were you surprised by the plot's complications?
Or did you find it predictable, even formulaic?
The plot of this story was very engaging. At first when I realized it would tell the story of both Roran and Eragon, I was kind of dissappointed thinking that Roran couldn't be quite as cool. I was convinced otherwise as Eragon's story became slow as it was just about his training until the end. I liked how both stories were originally based around the Ra'Zac, just with different character's. I liked how Roran had to deal with them as he had no Dragon or Magic or training at all and still held his own. The plot at the end blew my mind as it unfolded into who the red dragon on the cover is. When I learned that Murtagh was the new rider with the dragon I couldn't stop reading. I never thought Murtagh would be "evil" and I did sort of predict he was still alive but I didn't hink the red dragon would be his. I really want to keep reading the series as I don't know whats going to happen next. I want Roran to become a rider but I feel that'd be far too cliche. I want to know how Galbatorix keeps increasing his strength, and the series is pulling me in deeper and deeper.

    8. Is the ending satisfying?
If so, why? If not, why not...and how would you change it?
The ending was very satisfying to me and it actually made the book great. It had a great twist and was absolutely fantastic. It startled me and I wish they had explained Murtagh's training more. It seemed weird to me that he was stronger than Eragon, even though Eragon trained with elves-the strongest being's supposedly- and the dragons gave him a gift-uncrippling him while giving him strenght, speed, and cunning of an elf-yet Murtagh still bested him. It seemed a bit odd to me and I hope they explain that in the next two books, other than that the ending was great.
