“this series is very long & very complicated, but if you like fantasy, i recommend george r.r. martin. the plot will get into your head.”

Also, what's up with Rickons story?”

What people are wearing what they are eating what everyones' shields look like UGH. So if you get into this series beware. They are good but very long winded and sometimes things dont move quickly enough or he leaves main characters for long periods of time.”

The reason given by Martin is that the book would have been too long.
The quality of the writing has not changed; very solid, and i equate him the Stephen King of the fantasy world. He does seem to spend a little too much time with (seemingly) minor characters, and the overall cast of characters that pass through the storyline is starting to become unmanageable to those without photographic retention (i have to hit the wiki to remember the significance of some of the players).
Overall I would recommend this and the entire series to those with a lot of time and enjoyment for fantasy.

“While it seems people feel a little let down by this one, I think Crows is just as good as the other books in the series. Sure, everyone isn't heard from in this edition, but they'll be back; and the stories of these characters are equally as important to the overall tale as anyone else in Martins' epic.”

The fourth in the series and they just keep getting better, the world is so immersive and deep that you actually care whats going on in the world and what happens to the characters, who are themselves varied and unique. for a novel with such a large number of characters they are supprisingly complex and deep, George R R Martin is at the top of his game and has me begging for more. I would only recomend this book to serious and mature readers, besides being very adult in nature the book is near one thousand pages long and can be a challenging read in the early chapters unless read immediately after it's predecessor”
