“An absolutely fantastic book! I cannot wait to read the next one! This book has everything - adventure, betrayal (lots and lots of betrayal), romance, and the characterization is excellent! I didn't feel like this book read like fantasy either. Aside from talk of dragons and The Others, it...”see full review » see other reviews »

“Pure drudgery for me to read! Everyone at work is on book 4, 5 or finished the series and want more, but for me wasn't moving fast enough and was depressing to read. I'm on to something light and fun!!!!!!”see full review » see other reviews »

“What an amazing book. At times, the detail is overwhelming; however, as a writer I understand the need to captivate the reader's attention and put them in the scene. This book, with it's many, many pages, kept me turning page after page. It's a must read. ”Chase Sullivan wrote this review 3 days ago. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Half audio book, half reading. One of the best audiobooks I've listened to. The reading is fantastic, it really is as though you're watching a production.
Great characters - they would have to be, the story moves really slow (re. 6 books).
Reading the second now. ”

“The end really dragged, but it was worth it to see it all the way through. A truly epic novel, though I can tell where Martin could use the use of an outline.”Lxpetrik wrote this review 9 days ago. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Known as the best fantasy writer for years, GRRM delivers a gritty and violent story that spans several houses and several characters. Hard to keep up with them all, he does a great job of introducing each through chapter POV's rather than chapter numbers. I enjoy his style of writing reminiscent of the north of England brogue. Its easy to hear without laboring over spelling it out. These books are not for the faint-hearted or the easily distracted. You do need to concentrate fully on the character development to get anything out of them. And be warned. GRRM kills off characters at the flick of a sword and someone you have rooted for can easily be gone by the next book. New characters are very welcome (in my opinion) because I like meeting new people. Safety in numbers! Loved these books.”C M.T. Stibbe wrote this review 13 days ago. “I have read 115 pages of this book. November 28, 2013.
At the beginning of this book, I found it interesting but not one that i could think of myself finishing. But then I got to the part where Bran was pushed off of the balcony and I was just hooked! It has been non-stop action since then. The moment where Catelyn told John, it should have been him and not Bran, I literally got up and started yelling at her! It just amazes me at how different we are now then how it was back then. And the fact that Viserys was pretty much selling Daenerys to the dathraki clan for the soldier and weapons, just floored me. This book is definitely my favorite that i've read in the past year!”
