What strikes me most about his books is how likeable he makes the protagonist. Hap Thompson is hilariously sardonic and I was with him from the first page. Marshall Smith continues to do ultimate justice to the cyberpunk genre. ”

A little confusing at the beginning, but soon it became clear that it was taking place in the future, albeit a future not-so-distant anymore. The books crackles with humor and sarcasm and he enjoys showing us how he thinks technology will be used in a few years. The storyline itself is a good mystery, although he lost me at the end when the God thing showed up. I'm a staunch atheist and no matter how he tries to explain the deity concept, it just ruined the books for me. But not so much that I didn't enjoy it very much... until that point. Since it came late enough in the novel not to totally ruin it, I give it 4 stars.(”

Again, read this for the atmosphere, not the plot.”
