I had to read this, though I did not understand stuff that would have left a mathematical eye in raptures.... As biographies of geniuses usually are, this book doesn't offer much into the life of S. Ramanujan, apart from the extrapolations and interjections of people associated with him, during his time.

Robert kanigels quite a dedicated biographical scetch of one of the finest mathematicians of the century Srinivasa Ramanujam. well written ... and i liked the part which talks about hardy and his relationship with ramanujam at Cambridge. quite a good book ... about a mans obsession with mathematics!!

I enjoyed every page of this book. This is one of the best Biographies I have evr Read. The author has a truely distinct writing style. The book not only covers Ramanujams life and achievements but is is also comprihensively compares England and India of the 19th Century.

    I must read for all

Outstanding work on Ramanujan's life and his contribution to mathematics. Wonder how all the information presented therein was ever gathered.

This book without doubt is one of the most interesting biographies I have read.
A must read for anyone interested in Mathematics or biographies of scientific personalities.
Ramanujan's home in Erode, India is now on my 'bucket-list' :)

Kanigel writes sensitively about all his topics, but this one is especially good. Read this to learn how life treats a real genius.
