This book is more about the past of Voldemort and his secret. This book is exciting and action-packed. I couldn't put it down. It demands to be read.

To me personally, after the amazing book that she'd created in the first one, this lacked a little something...A very good book indeed but couldn't measure up to philosophers stone

I enjoyed The Chamber of Secrets even more than The Sorcerer's Stone. The story was more complex and dark, with a few surprising twists. Rowling is a good storyteller, but personally I think this is probably a little much for the intended audience. Rowling is a bit irresponsible in that she continually emphasizes that the only way to get things done as a child is to break rules and do things grown-ups wouldn't let you do. The fact that the children not only escape all of the rule-breaking unscathed (mostly), but also receive rewards for their heroic efforts seemed forced.

Yeah, I'm an adult and at first I didn't see what they Harry Potter hype was all about. After finally buying one at Sam's on sale after it had been out a while, I became a Harry Potter junkie. I devour them as the come out (but I don't wait in line at midnight at Wal-Mart, I have too much dignity for that - I go the next day) and look forward to the next one. Great series.

I'd review each of these separately, but what difference does it make if one is slightly better, or worse than the other? You're either gonna read them all, or none of them. A little variation in story quality from one to another isn't going to send most Harry Potter fans running from one or the other of the books.

Can't quite get through this one as fast as the rest. It sort of drags...

This is one of the best books I have ever read. BUT....now what J.K has said about Dumbledore and homosexuality has made me think of what the books are REALLY about. I don't hate homosexuals, but I know that this is a sin. Also, what she said about "questioning authority" really makes me wonder. This seems very Wiccan and anarchist. I doubt I will read these books any more, despite how well they were written. If I do, I will remember this slam at Christianity.

Chamber of Secrets is okay. It is my least favorite book in the series, but it is still well written.

This is my favorite harry potter book! I love the mystery part of it cause you dont know how blood is geting on the walls or how people are being petriphied. Harry's charictr comes out alot becasue in the first book it was learnng more about the school and Harrys past.. not is acuall charicter. Profecor Lockheart just anyoede me but when his own memory spell re-bounded on him.... that was probley one of my favorite parts of the book. In the end, when Dumbldore is talking to harry about the swoard and how onyl a true grifendore could have pulled that out of the hat.... well it gives harry confidence that he is good not evel and not just a younge voldimort not yet gone bad. This book you learn stuff that is important threw all the other books. You cannot READ the harry potter series without readign the second one.
