Water is a main element in this story. It started when Yoshimi was drinking a glass of while noticing particles of dirt inside it. Since three months she still could not get used to the taste of the water. There’s something wrong with the water. With her daughter Ikuko have been talking to herself and her daughter’s shoulder cold to the touch she knew that something must be amiss. But she decided to sleep as she was exhausted. Feeling asleep for two hours, she awakes and discovers her daughter has been missing. She then started her search by going to the apartment rooftop but she doubt that her daughter Ikuko would have the courage to overcome the darkness. But as soon as she sees the light, she was encouraged, she started shouting but there was to no avail. In desperation she climbs up the ladder of the penthouse in hope of finding her daughter. Motherly love is the greatest. With an instant she heard the voice of her daughter which was at the bottom of the penthouse, while Ikuko insisted that she was in the bathroom when she rushes out of the door, she couldn’t feign all this, as it must be happened as Ikuko have said and also she was an infant which was heavily dependent on her. After the next day, she asked the superintendent of the strange happening. The superintendent then told her that a girl about the same age as Ikuko has gone missing but never been found nearly a year, and her parents never given up hope and also does not want to sell the apartment in hope of their daughter would make a comeback. Continuing his story he came to the missing girl’s name “Mitsuko”. It immediately came to Yoshimi that it was the imaginary playmate Ikuko have been talking to. She asked the superintendent for more information. He handed her the log book, her attention turned to the overhead tank which was under operation on the day the girl have disappeared which she recounted seeing it as a floating giant coffin the days before when she was finding her daughter Ikuko. She somehow feels that Mitsuko was responsible, thinking that she may have fallen into the overhead tank and maybe either thrown by someone with intention. Yoshimi recounted the how many times she drank the water with countless putrid cells when she started vomiting. It was a horrifying encounter. Then she started hearing the sounds of water dripping bit by bit with her delusions was becoming reality, she saw something appeared to be a corpse of the missing girl. She was breathless and scared, upon her daughter came to her and ended her hallucination. She decided to forget all about it and have a day’s rest and leave the apartment as soon as possible.
