This book is not for everybody, that's a given. As for me, I LOVED IT!! I loved how the Batman was tested to his limits, loved how the Joker looked, and loved the shocking conspiracies, grand schemes, and revelations.
This story made me love reading Batman again (I started reading Batman when...

Confusing, cluttered, rather implausible. Continuity is questionable and doesn't tie into Final Crisis. One of Morrison's worse attempts.

A convoluted mess of a story.

The central plot of this book was just alright. It seemed rushed and Batman himself got very little in the way of characterization. The whole thing could easily have been skipped except for the two-chapter afterward, a story which revolves around Batman's relationship with Alfred and which ties directly into "Final Crisis" and so reconciles Batman's "death" at the end of RIP with his "death" at the end of that story.

Not as bad as many have claimed. Morrison actually comes across as a great writer and did some imaginative things with an idea that could have been mundane and pointless. If you're in to Batman, you at least have to read it once.

This story made me love reading Batman again (I started reading Batman when Kelley Jones was the artist--pointy, long-eared Batman--and absolutely hated it because the art was horrible).
Batman RIP changed all that for me. It's captivating to say the least. I've always respected Grant Morrison, and his work on Batman, especially this one, stands as one of his finest works and made me a Batman fan for good.

Garbage. Grant Morrison ruined a 70-year-old series with this crap. Heavily dependant on other comics for it to make the slightest bit of sense, and even then it doesn't make much. This pornography is complete abuse of power on Morrison's part, he destroyed the canon. Avoid at all costs, awful writing reminiscent of the 50's Batman, terrible artwork too. Batmite? Are you kidding me?

This is a Grant Morrison book that makes one excited to be alive through the lens of a gritty sweaty nightmare. Batman is so cool he can survive a forced speedball overdose administered through trigger words. I love it when the irrational frighten the rational, and I love Batman. There is no way this arc could lose!

Wow. This was hard to follow. Have to admit I've never read Batman really. My guess is that this one is really not a good place to just jump in. I couldn't follow ANYTHING. Were those bonus stories at the end or part of the real story?
