This book was very good and it left a lasting mark for me. There is one particular scene that will always stay with me. Mainly because I can relate to the Nicole and how she felt when over hearing a conversation between Chase and someone else.

This book is about both a man and a women...

Elizabeth Lowell is a force to be reckoned with, so I highly doubt that my little raniew is likely to make much difference to her popularity. La Lola’s is but one lone cry in the vast wilderness after all, destined to go unheard by a cruel, unfeeling world. (”What do you mean I’ve had too much to drink Sheridan Sakura Carlotta? You give me back that bottle of Jim Beam you hear!”) She is sadly amongst the ranks of those authors who shall not be named (Starts with “M” and rhymes with Becnaught) who have been lured to the dark side aka Romantic Suspense.

A romance in Hawaii. Also a lesson in volcanoes and their fury. I liked this but not as much as some of Lowell's other books.

This book was very good and it left a lasting mark for me. There is one particular scene that will always stay with me. Mainly because I can relate to the Nicole and how she felt when over hearing a conversation between Chase and someone else.

This book is about both a man and a women who are emotionally scarred. Although this is usually the theme in EL's books, this particular book struck a cord in me that haunted me even after finishing it. This woman is smart, attractive, and very independent. Then Chase comes along and he's attracted to her but believes that she is like all the other women in his life who are meant to use and toss away. And with this kind of assumption and attitude this is exactly what Chase does...but in a more dramatic and hurtful way.

The scene I will never forget is when Nicole is in the bathroom, and she over hears Chase talking about her as if she was some random slut off the street. He talks about her in the most dispicable way, and Nicole physical reaction is that she cant breathe, and basically almost throws up. She falls to her knees fighting for breath. And when Chase sees her reaction and realizes she over heard him, his reaction becomes more compassionate. Its almost like he was just shooting his mouth off, and then realizes his words hurt her in a way that he never expected. There is an understanding there at that point, and a regret, that for the rest of the book its a hurdle they continously are trying to get over or around. Both of them really deal with what is said and how it hurt.

The relationship is passionate, and potent. Its electric and exciting. But when you put two wounded people together, there is always badge to deal with and the desire or need to get pass previous hurt and find new love. The need and want to feel again, to love again, trust again, and be close to another human being. Its a beautiful story.

I loved the setting of Hawaii, having never been there myself, I could picture the beauty of the landscape. I have always loved Elizabeth Lowell's books and I am never disappointed. So relationships stand out more then others, but this book definately stayed with me.
