  • Conrad Tesdinic: Conrad Tesdinic also goes by the alias Conrad Grant. A young boy who grows up in a book shop. He has bad karma.
  • Anthea Tesdinic: Conrad's older sister. She studies constantly. Huge dark eyes and long dark hair.
  • Gabriel de Witt: Current Chrestomanci. Christopher's guardian. Royal Commissioner Extraordinary to the King. Very tall and thin with white hair and a "gray triangular face", piercing eyes and strong magic.
  • Millie: An enchantress from series 10. Christopher's friend.
  • Christopher Chant: Tall, about 15, well dressed with dark eyes. He is very sure of himself and charming, a natural leader.
  • Franconia Grant Tesdinic: Conrad and Anthea's mother, a feminist author. Born Franconia Grant her married name is Franconia Tesdinic. She has light yellow brown eyes and dark gray hair that she always forgets to tidy. She wears a mustard colored suit most of the time. She sells her books in the shop.
  • Mr. Amos: The butler of Stallery. A small man with a forceful presence. He is short pear-shaped and severe.
  • Uncle Alfred: Conrad's uncle. “a skinny worrity little man with a bald patch under his curls.” Half brother of Franconia. Wears glasses and runs the book shop. He is a magician.
  • Hugo: Mr. Amos's son, Count Roberts' valet.
  • Mr Priddy: Runs the casino
  • Count Roberts: The count. A young handsome man.
  • Lady Felice: The sister of Count Robert. Has three horses, Iceberg, Pessimist and Oracle. She rides often. She is very pretty with very blond hair.
  • Hubert Tesdinic: Conrad's father. Died shortly after Conrad was born
  • Count Rudolph: Lived at Stallery Castle was Count Robert's father. He recently passed away.
  • Mrs. Pots: The housekeeper for Conrad's family. She has nervous tendencies.
  • Peter Jenkins: The main character in Conrad's favorite book series
  • Mr. Seuly: Mayor of Stallchester. Owns the iron works at the end of town.
  • Mr. Johnson: Owns the ski runs and the hotels
  • Mr. Hawkins: The tailor
  • Mr. Loder: The butcher
  • Mr. Prendergast: An actor who comes to Stallery as extra help. He is constantly mimicking people or acting out parts. His stage name is Boris Vestov.He is the temporary under-butler.
  • Mr. Maxim: Second Under Chef
  • Sir Simon Caldwell: A large solemn man in a dark suit. A personal wizard of the king.
  • Sir William Forsythe: A personal wizard of the king
  • Princess Wilhelmina: Princess, royal sorceress
  • Madame Anastasia Dupont: Royal Sorceress
  • Mrs. Havelok-Harting: The royal prosecutor, "gray, severe and pitiless."
  • Martin Baines: Solicitor to the King
  • Lord Constant of Goodwell: King's high justice
  • Lady Pierce-Willoughby: King's High Justice
  • Sir Michael Weatherby: The Chief Commissioner of Police

  • Champ: A friendly guard dog at Stallery

  • Miss Semple: Gray haired under-housekeeper, nice but she takes everything literally
  • Countess: Takes great care to look young. She is blonde, thin and always tries to look "very sweet" although she actually is controlling and has a nasty temper.
  • Mrs. Polak: Conrad's third year teacher
  • Andrew: An Improver like Conrad and Christopher.

  • Lady Mary: An extremely beautiful Lady who is meant to marry Count Robert.
  • Polly Varden: A "glamorous dark girl" who is at Stallery as a temporary maid
