This is a difficult book to write a review about. I've been an avid fan of Anne Rice's books since I was in junior high, since I love her style of writing and of course her gothic themes (vampires, demons, witches). Lasher is the second novel of the Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy. The...

Rice had a good thing with "The Witching Hour" and should have left well enough alone. Instead, here we have book two in another ongoing and increasingly bad exercise in bathos.

I mostly remember this for having turned me on to Dickens, the main character's favourite novel being "Great Expectations." That, and painstakingly detailed descriptions of Louisiana architecture.

It was a very interesting book. Of course, I mistakenly read them out of order.

The speed picks up in this novel, continuing the Mayfair story into present time.

This book is a bit scary. I mean, the idea of having an entity lurking in your home, who can actually get you pregnant is disturbing. Nonetheless, the book found a good place in my heart. Lasher is such a character and I know it's been years since I've read this book but I still remember some of the lines. That's how good it is.

This is probably one of the best books I've ever read. It is very well written and there are a lot of details! I recommend this for people who are into Gothic writing, and people who basically like mysteries/thrillers. It's also kind of scary. This book has a lot of incestuous STUFF, and it's kind of weird lol. But Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors, so I do recommend it. This is also a sequel to the Mayfair Witches, and I think the next book is Taltos.
