This is the kind of book that I most loved as a child. It elevates the oddest children, the outcasts, to heroes who are naturally equipped to handle riddles and mysteries with equanimity and intelligence. I zipped happily through this, enjoying it heartily the whole way. That said, and as a heads up, my own child found it utterly dull. He is an excellent reader with a taste for adventures and fantasy, but could not get into this book.
