I have never been disappointed in any of Sue Miller's books. I like them because they are about 'real' people; someone you might know or have met. I can't always say I like her characters but still, she is a favorite. The female vet in the book went back to when she was in her 20's, living in a house with others her age and she was running away from something. A terrible event occurred and repercussions only unfold later in her life. Anyone have any comments??
I had a very hard time accepting the outcome of this book. The murderer basically gets away with it completely, and the forgiveness factor was difficult for me to understand. In my opinion, just because you make a successfull career for yourself, does not make up for the taking of a life. Even though Jo had no way to make him pay, it almost seemed as she didn't really want to in the end.
