Really enjoyed this. Tom Clancy does such a good job of juggling multiple subplots, and then bringing them together nicely in the end. While it probably makes sense to read the Jack Ryan / John Clark books in order (by either date published or character chronology), I've skipped around a bit...

I was unable to stick with it. Too much of one author is hard to read.

Really enjoyed this. Tom Clancy does such a good job of juggling multiple subplots, and then bringing them together nicely in the end. While it probably makes sense to read the Jack Ryan / John Clark books in order (by either date published or character chronology), I've skipped around a bit and each book can still be an enjoyable read on its own.

This book was a good read. But the only downfall is all of the political scenes; sometimes I got so bored in them I wanted to skip them. But the last huge action scene was so awesome! So detailed! Love it!

Would have to be one of my favourite Jack Ryan books and makes the movie look like crap. A must read ... the whole series is as far as I am concerned~

If you've read one Jack Ryan book, you've read them all. I'm sorry, but clever plot alone cannot carry an entire book, especially one so soulless. This is no exaggeration: I have honestly read instruction manuals more entertaining than this.

I got hooked on Jack Ryan and when Harrison Ford's version of this book came out in the movies I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie. I thought both were great but of course enjoyed the book more. I rarely read "action" books but I find that Clancy has a great knowledge of the government and can weave a fantastic story that keeps you coming back.

This might be a fiction, but it says a lot about living and the burdens of truth. Had those gallant soldiers of civilizations (Clark, Chavez, John etc) not stood up against falsehood, more lives would have been lost and politicians will continue in their merriment, stuffing us with stories about how their actions are in the interest of all. Let us stop agonizing, and start organizing.

I read this book either just before or just after I read a documentary by two reporters from the Miami Herald. The similarity in detail was astounding.
