  • Pete Hollister: The oldest of the Hollister children, Pete is a sturdy boy of twelve with sparkling blue eyes and blond, crewcut hair. He shares a love of sports with his sister, Pam.
  • Pam Hollister: Pam, whose real name is Pamela, is ten-year-old girl with brown eyes and fluffy golden hear. She is kind to everyone and loves animals including their collie, Zip, who she adopted.
  • Ricky Hollister: Ricky is a lanky seven-year-old package of perpetual motion with reddish hair, a turned-up nose and freckles. He is full of fun and loves to tease and play jokes.
  • Holly Hollister: Holly is a tomboyish six-year-old who looks a lot like Ricky but with brown eyes and dark hair worn in pigtails. Holly delights in her cat, White Nose, and her five kittens.
  • Sue Hollister: Sue, the four-year-old daughter and youngest of the five Hollister children, is dark haired and enjoys all the fun her older siblings bring her way.
  • Elaine Hollister: The blonde wife of John Hollister and mother of the five Hollister children. Always ready to meet a sudden need in support of her family's adventures or simply lend a helping hand.
  • John Hollister: The father of the five Hollister children has brown eyes and dark wavy hair. In addition to being the owner of The Trading Post, a general store in Shoreham, he is an inventor of many devices and loves an exciting adventure.
