I read this a long time ago, so I don't remember it much. I do reember it was very good. I think it was about a girl who wanted to be a sponge diver but her dad wouldn't let her. Is that right? I think so. It was very good, I know that.

The story was kind of blah and there wasn't much of a plot line

Very exciting, informative story of a young Greek-American girl who learns to dive for sponges in the Gulf of Mexico. Fast pace, well-drawn characters and good subplots make this highly recommended. My only complaint was the length; I would have liked another 100 pages or so.

Exciting story of Alexandra, a teenage girl who lives in Tarpon Springs and learns to be a sponge diver. Along the way she encounters the handsome Spyros and a real mystery. I only wish this had been a little longer, and more fleshed out. Sometimes it read like a movie outline. Otherwise, an excellent book with a great heroine. Grades 6 and up.
