Ridiculously Simplified Synopsis
Cast of Characters/Important People
- Kayako Saeki: The Big Bad. Formerly a normal housewife--well, as normal as one can be when one is married and still morbidly obsessed with her crush from college, anyway--she is murdered by her husband in a jealous rage and becomes Super Scary Angry Ghost Lady What Crawls Headfirst Down Stairs. Where she formerly was dedicated to rid the house of dustbunnies, she now enjoys haunting the upstairs floor of her house, knitting, and secretly performing charity work for Red Cross.
- Takeo Saeki: Kayako's angry (and none too bright) husband. His favorite activities include killing his wife, among other things.
- Toshio Saeki: Son of Kayako and Takeo Saeki, aka the Blue Smurf.
- Shunsuke Kobayashi: Kayako's crush. Married to Manami.
- Manami Kobayashi: Kobayashi's pregnant wife.
- Kazumi Tokunaga: An annoying housewife and hapless victim. Katsuya's wife.
- Katsuya Tokunaga: Kazumi's husband, and son of Sachie, brother of Hitomi.
- Hitomi Tokunaga: Katsuya's sister and Sachie's daughter.
- Sachie Tokunaga: The invalid mother of Katsuya and Hitomi, and mother-in-law to Kazumi; suffers from severe dementia.
- Rika Nishina: Volunteer at the care center for the elderly, who tends to Sachie.
- Kyoko Toyama: Former police detective who tries to stop the Saeki curse.
- Detective Nakagawa: Incredulous police detective who doesn't believe in ghosts. Yet.
- Detective Igarashi: Not so incredulous police detective, and Nakagawa's right-hand man. Is enlisted by Kyoko in her efforts to destroy the haunted Saeki house.
