Excellent fantasy, based on historical events from a master. This book caused me to run to the computer & my archaeology books to look up the Byzantium Empire.

There was no plot, the characters were neither likeable nor believable (IMO) and there were too many of them, there were numerous unnecessary gratuitous sex scenes (what do I care to know that one character takes the girl from behind on the balcony?), there were complex political intrigues between the different kings of the different regions that were just complex and not interesting in the least. One of the most frustrating moments was when the author spent 10 pages describing how an army...
