I'm done with this whole 'fate' thing.
But I could read to the end anyhow cause it had 'Coelho-tic' sentiment that I once loved.

I read Brida (as I have bought it, not after reading alchemist but both together, my bad :( There is no way left now. I had to read it, so I did). Now this book even more pathetic than Alchemist, starts about the same topic right from beginning, with concepts of genesis, old testament and bible. But what is the spicy term/characters here. Alchemist had an alchemist, in Brida its sorcerers, magus and witches. Here everything is divine. A mechanic repairing a car is divine. Someone asks "how did the mechanic repair it so perfectly, how did he know where to look for the problem exactly ?" Answer "Because he speaks with the car, to a invisible world, world of God, he has connected with his experience of repairing them. So now he speaks with them." Now I say "Good God, can he really do that. So can I speak with my hamburger ?"

There should be a limit to throwing in ridiculous things. Alchemist, ok atleast human and alchemy, ok a practice. Now cars !!! This is the limit. I definitely feel philosophical sometimes but I cannot talk with either my car or my truck anytime.

Depends on your interests...the parts about magic is not very well done especially if you have an interest in that topic...if the concept of soul mates interest you..then there is a bit of something for you...the love and attraction part is better..
I guess if you compare it with his other works...you will definitely be dissatisfied.

I like Coelho's books in general but this one I think was waste of time. It sounds like a tale of witchcraft written by an outsider who doesn't really get the worldview. Also the idea of destinate a soulmate is something I don't really support because it leaves far too much responsibility on other people for making us complete and happy while I believe everyone is a whole being to begin with and the true love can be found within.

I like the idea of everyone is destined to find their soulmate.
Yet, I find this book dreary.
    Personally preferred The Alchemist.

I tried to read this but just couldn't do it. It felt like work. Yes, work at something not very interesting or, in the long run, very productive. I gave up and breathed a sign of relief! What a waste of an hour?
