• Hobbes: Calvin's stuffed tiger. Named for 17th-century English political philosopher Thomas Hobbes. To everyone but Calvin he is just a stuffed animal but to Calvin he is alive. Hobbes likes to eat tuna and attack Calvin when he returns from school.
• Susie: Calvin's neighbor and arch enemy. She likes Calvin.
