This darkly humorous, soap opera tale of the Drummond family reunion reminds us there is love beneath all the chaos. The situations in Coupland's books sometimes seem far-fetched and are frequently absurd, yet he always seems to be able to comment on the human condition in a way few contemporary authors can. No matter which Coupland book you grab, most likely you will find at least one line to quote that accurately reflects where you find yourself in life. One of my favorite Coupland books!

So I bought this for my parents for xmas because they loved microserfs and liked shampoo planet and my feelings coincided. However, I really didn't enjoy this very much and kinda regret giving it to my parents because our family is not at all psychotic and this book doesn't really seem like something they'd like. not particularly recommended, unless you think your family is the most dysfunctional one you can imagine and you want to be surprised that it can get worse.

Although I enjoyed "JPod" and "Eleanor Rigby" better, this was really enjoyable and fun to read....kind of like a messed up version of "Little Miss Sunshine".
