Okay, so I am not really even sure what to say about this book. I am leaning towards saying it was just too wierd for me to say I liked it. However, if I really do not like a book, often I just don't finish it. But, I definitely wanted to finish it once it got started because it was interesting...

This book reads easily. You follow the lives of a family down in Florida. There's an Astronaut, a divorced 60ish mother, a father with a new woman, a 40ish man with Aids, and more psychotic haracters. It will make your family look normal.

This was an interesting read but obviously not life changing since I can't remember the plot.

Okay, so I am not really even sure what to say about this book. I am leaning towards saying it was just too wierd for me to say I liked it. However, if I really do not like a book, often I just don't finish it. But, I definitely wanted to finish it once it got started because it was interesting (in an odd way) and I wanted to know what happened next. However, still the only thing I can say is that it is a strange tale about a strange family who seems to make a strange mess of everything they come in contact with. Just odd. Strange.

I've loved Douglas Coupland novels since I read Hey Nostradamus! (this was my first Coupland book to read). "All Families Are Psychotic" seemed to hold a bit of funny truth to it, so I picked up this book. Coupland has a way of painting with vivid colours and almost tries to stretch our disbelief with his outrageous stories. But through this chaos comes beauty and love and truth about all families. Great book.

This darkly humorous, soap opera tale of the Drummond family reunion reminds us there is love beneath all the chaos. The situations in Coupland's books sometimes seem far-fetched and are frequently absurd, yet he always seems to be able to comment on the human condition in a way few contemporary authors can. No matter which Coupland book you grab, most likely you will find at least one line to quote that accurately reflects where you find yourself in life. One of my favorite Coupland books!

More a statement about many aspects of the American experience than an actual novel; nevertheless, this was entertaining and thought provoking in its' observations.
