The book is a slow read. There is not a lot of character or story development. It is fun to read a computer book that discusses leading edge technology in the mid 1990s and think about how far we have come. I find myself smiling as they go through different situations. If you were a computer...

Fascinating book. Great look at the cubicle jungle and the people caught in it. This is also a reall sweet coming of age novel, even if the characters are just a little to old to be growing up. The narrative is quick and the story moves along briskly.

I borrowed it from a friend years ago and was so pleasantly surprised to find a world of people I understood who understood me. I think I learned more about personal relationships from this book than any other. Wonderful insights. I will have to re-read this soon.

What a visionary Douglas Coupland is, writing about multimedia in 1995 and already anticipating so many of the situations and feelings we see today. This book is extremely well-written with excellently laid-out characters, whom we identify with as they're so HUMAN. Also perfectly lays out the changes computers, the Internet and multimedia have brought into our lives... brilliant!

The tech references are fun, but it gets boring fast. Not much of a climax or dénoument either.

Great start to the story - good middle - loses story in the end.

A novel in diary format that tells the story of a group of Microsoft employees who leave for their own start-up in Silicon Valley. Sprinkled with humorous observations of geek culture and quasi-profound musings of the meaning of it all.
