“I feel that Coupland as a creative artist is ENTIRELY overrated. His writing seems contrived and at times incredibly boring. The problem is, he seems to mistake cleverness with just being a f***ing jackass. He too damn cool for his own good. Those can write, do, Those who can't write a book like Microserfs. If you met Microserfs at a party you'd talk to him for about 45 minutes nursing your Sam Adams and he won't stop constantly smiling at every devestatingly ironic non sequitor that he finds witty but you and everyone else finds incredibly arrogant and condescending. And you get home and tell your wife, You know, I met a really interesting book at the party." You fall asleep and dream some oedipal mess and you wake up with a start, go get your coffee and watch GMA, then you get to your office and you're about to start working when you think back to the party and that jackass bookl who wouldn't stop acting too clever for words. GOD I EFFING HATED THIS BOOK. Sorry. I get emotional when I spend time and money on garbage. I could have gone to Perkins for pancakes. I couldn't have gone to a movie. But instead I wasted two days of my life I will never get back. And it breaks my heart. Just. Just breaks it in two.”
