This was the book my mother read to me almost every night before bed. I still have the original copy.

A favorite of childhood. Revisited as an adult. It is so perfect an allegory for the time it was written -- the Spanish Civil War. But it still is a classic children's book about the power of peace.

Asimply beautiful and beautifully simple classic about an unheralded Zen master (ok, a peaceful bull)

The story of a Spanish bull selected to fight against a matador. Unlike other bulls Ferdinand chooses a different path much to the chagrin of the spectators.

The first book I ever read and is still my favorite among childrens books. It's a good way to explain that things aren't always what they seem to be.

I loved this book and discovered it when I started reading to my oldest son. Before this book, I didn't know where cork came from! You learn all kinds of thngs from children's books and any kind of fiction if you keep your mind open!

It took Lucy a while to get through this one- mostly because of the black and white pictures.

Ferdinand is such a lovely story about pacifist values and ideals.
