Corduroy is a bear who is in a department store for quite some time. He realizes that he is missing a button, therefore he needs to find his button. So he climbs down in the middle of the night but as he is looking for it, he knocks over a lamp and a night watchman hears the crash, finds Corduroy, and takes his back down to his shelf. The next day, Corduroy is finally bought and the little girl replaces his button. This book would be for level two readers because there is a lot of dialogue within the story.

Another of my absolute favorite books as a child! It teaches its readers that everyone deserves to be loved the same no matter what they look like.

This is a story all about a bear at a department store who, after not being bought by a girl who wanted him because her mother pointed out that he was missing a button on his overalls, decides to go on a mission to find his lost button. Unfamiliar with the world outside of his little shelf where he lives, Corduroy is awestruck by the fascinating things he encounters on his journey. When he is sure he has found his button on a mattress inside a palace, he is discovered by the nightwatchman.

    Uses in the classroom:
    *Lesson on friendship
*Teaching kids about loving someone flaws and all

Other Books to pair with it:
    A Pocket for Corduroy-Don Freeman
Are You My Mother- P. D. Eastman

    Delicious Quote:
“This must be a home. I know I’ve always wanted a home.”

This book is appropriate for thrid graders who love adventure and imagination. This book is about a teddy bear named Curduroy who is being sold at a department store. A young girl comes in and wants to buy him but her mother says that he is missing a button and that she has already spent enought money for the day. That night Corduroy sets out on an adventure to other locations in the store to find a button. He never finds one before a security guard finds him and places him back into the toy section. The next day the young girl comes back with her own money and buys him and takes him home and fixes his button.

This book is for lower elementary level students. It is about a Bear in the toy store that wants an owner. It goes on an adventure in the mall and eventually Lisa takes him home and gives him a new button.

This book is the story of how Lisa found Corduroy. She went to the store with her mom and when she found him she wanted to buy him. The next time Lisa went back to the store and bought Corduroy with the money she had saved. This book is good for younger elementary to read on their own because they like reading about stuffed animals and being friends.
