• This story follows Corduroy the teddy bear sitsas he goes on an adventure through the shelf of the toy department, waiting anxiouslydepartment store looking for someone to take him home. Who could not fail to warm to him, withhis lost look and loose shoulder strap? He plainly needs looking after. No, says the girl's mother, we have spent enough already and, anyway, he has abutton missing. As soon as the store closes, Corduroy is offto find the button. He makeshis way toshoulder strap. This is a classic and childhood favorite that should be shared in all classrooms. This story will inspire the furniture department and, trying to pull a button off a mattress, knocks over a lamp,student's imaginations and is returnedallow them to live vicariously through Corduroy as he goes on his shelf by a bemused night watchman. The next day, the girl, Lisa, returns with her own money to buy Corduroy.adventure.
