The audiobook version of this book is AMAZING. The premise is that it's 1920 and a man who fancies himself the world's greatest Egyptologist is on the hunt for a tomb of doubtful authenticity. His story is told in journal entries. He's a wonderful character--completely vain and self-deluding and is, in that famous English class phrase, an "unreliable narrator." The reviews on this book sounded so great I had to read it. It was horrible. I tried three different times to finish this book and finally just gave up. It was disorganized and confusing. There are so many better written books about Egypt. Don't waist your time buying or trying to finish this one. Utter disaster!!
